Introduction
Pink is created by blending red and white pigments. It is found everywhere, appearing in both nature and human-made design. It can be seen in various things such as flowers, clothing, art, and even minerals like pink quartz.
Pink is symbolic in certain cultures as well. It is often associated with love, romance, and affection. This color is a commonly chosen color when giving flowers to someone special to express love and affection
Pink is traditionally linked with feminism, representing qualities such as softness, nurturing, and elegance. It can also mean youthfulness, playfulness, and vibrancy, emphasizing energy, creativity, and joy.
In this article, I will showcase flags that contain the color pink in the design, with a specific focus on the national flags of Mexico and Spain, both of which feature pink. We’ll discuss the meaning of the color pink on these two national flags.

National Flags With Pink in Them
1. Mexico
The Mexican banner is one of the flags with pink in them around the world. It has three vertical stripes of green, white, and red. In the center of the flag, the national coat of arms is depicted. It shows an eagle sitting on a prickly pear cactus and eating a snake. There is also a bunch of oak and laurel leaves below this image.
The colors of the stripes have the following meanings: the green stripe stands for hope and vegetation; the white stripe means peace and unity; and the red stripe represents the blood of the martyrs and the people who sacrifice their lives for Mexico’s independence.
The triband stripe is based on the flag of the Army of the Three Guarantees, which was used during the Mexican Revolution of Independence. This army played an important role in Mexico’s independence from Spain. Over time, the flag was adopted as the national flag and modified, eventually adding Mexico’s coat of arms.
The design of the Mexican coat of arms is based on Aztec mythology, specifically the establishment of Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, which is now Mexico City. The Aztecs were instructed by their god Huitzilopochtli to build their capital city where they saw an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus while consuming a snake.
The laurel and oak beneath represent triumph and wisdom. They serve as a tribute to Mexico’s achievements and the brilliance of its people.
In Mexican flag, the color pink appears in the flowers of the prickly pear cactus. It does not have any specific symbolic significance; rather, it is just the natural color of the cactus’ flowers.
2. Spain
The flag of Spain comprises three horizontal bands of red, yellow, and red, with the Spanish coat of arms on the left side of the yellow stripe. The red stands for the country’s bloody history and the fight for freedom, while the yellow represents the country’s wealth.
The coat of arms is composed of a crown, a shield, two columns, and a red ribbon inscribed with the Spanish national motto “Plus Ultra.”
The shield in the middle is the most noticeable part of the coat of arms. It has images of a castle, a lion, alternating vertical yellow and red stripes, a chain, a pomegranate, and a fleur-de-lis.
The first five images, excluding the fleur-de-lis, represent the flags of the five kingdoms that made up Spain during the medieval period. The castle stands for the Kingdom of Castile, the lion for the Kingdom of León, the vertical stripes for the Kingdom of Aragon, the chain for the Kingdom of Navarre, and the pomegranate for the Kingdom of Granada. Meanwhile, the fleur-de-lis reflects the historical connection between Spain and France.
The color pink in the Spanish banner is found in the flag of the Kingdom of León, where the lion is depicted in pink. The reason for this color choice is unknown. Some people believe it was originally purple or red, intended to symbolize the blood of the people who fought for freedom.
The lion, often linked with courage and strength, represented the bravery and resilience of the people of the Kingdom of León.
Other Flags With Pink in Them
Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property – It is the official flag of Russia’s government agency for intellectual property. The flag has a pink background, with the modern Russian national flag in the top-left corner and a golden double-headed eagle emblem on the right side.
First LGBTQA+ or Rainbow Flag – The first rainbow or LGBTQA+ flag consisted of horizontal stripes in pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, and violet. However, in 1979, due to the rarity of fabric dyes for pink, turquoise, and indigo, the design was changed to include only red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.
Scouts Troop Flag of Monthon Phayap – Monthon Phayap was a region in the Kingdom of Siam, now part of Northern Thailand. This flag was used by the Scouts of Phayap from 1926 to 1933. It had a pink field with a white elephant at the center.
Turks and Caicos – Turks and Caicos is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. It is located in the Caribbean Sea. The pink color on its flag appears within the shield on the fly side of the flag, where a queen conch shell is depicted in pink.
Republic of South Korea Army – This military or war flag is a bicolor of white and blue with the army’s coat of arms in the center. The pink elements in this flag appear in three floral components of the central emblem. Two are positioned at the top of the golden wreath, while the third surrounds the Taegeuk (red and blue symbol) at the center. Kawit, Cavite, Philippines – The flag of this municipality has a light pink background with the municipal seal at its center.
Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada – It consists of green, white, and pink stripes. At the center of the white stripe, the town crest is displayed along with a caribou and two bulldogs.
Nizhyn Raion, Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine – This flag features a vivid pink field bordered by a thick white outline. On the hoist side, there is an emblem depicting Saint George riding a white horse and slaying a black dragon. The image symbolizes bravery and the triumph of good over evil.
Kimobetsu, Hokkaido, Japan – This town flag features a white field with the town’s emblem at its center. The emblem depicts a stylized pink flower set against a green map of Hokkaido. The flower is the Ezo hill cherry blossom, which is the town’s official tree.
Lila, Bohol, Philippines – The flag is a bicolor with purple on the upper half and pink on the lower half; the colors reflect the town’s name, Lila, which means “purple” in Filipino. It also displays a pink lotus flower resting on a silver spoon. It represents purity, resilience, and nourishment.
